Suhnholz is currently ODP Region III Head Coach for 89 boys and ODP South Texas Staff Coach. From 1999-2001, he was head coach for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team, which advanced to the second round in the U-20 World Championship in Argentina in 2001. He was the U.S. Assistant National Team Coach for the 1999 U-20 World Cup in Nigeria, and he was the U.S. U-16 Assistant National Team Coach in 1997. In 2001 and 2002 he was nominated for the Soccer Hall of Fame. Suhnholz began his professional career at age 17 for Hertha Zehlendorf in Berlin. He played for the U-23 German National Team and for Bayern Munich with the legendary Franz Beckenbauer, helping win two National Championships and one National Cup. In 1975, he came to the U.S. as a player and assistant coach for several North American Soccer League (NASL) teams. He was named Most Valuable Player in the 1976 NASL Soccer Bowl, and he is the former head coach of the Austin Lone Stars professional team.
